Woocommerce 3.0 Image Gallery not working since Update
WooCommerce 3.0 was a large update with many changes and new features. One of the most noticeable was the way your single products are displayed. Before updating to WooCommerce 3.0 you had the option in the WooCommerce settings to “Enable Lightbox for Product Images”. When this was checked your product images opened in gallery style popup. Since the update to 3.0 your images simply open in a browser window and that lightbox feature is no longer available with the basic woocommerce install.
New Gallery Features
WooCommerce 3.0 has some cool new gallery features, which they left up to the theme developer to enable what features they would like to use. We have decided to enable all 3 of the new gallery features in our Hello You Designs Themes.
- Image Zoom/Magnification – Allows your reader to hover over the image and automatically see it magnified.
- Lightbox – Like the old but improved.
- Slider – clicking a thumbnail updates the image you’re already viewing instead of opening a lightbox popup window
Mobile Improvements
3.0 also has some major improvements for the mobile user, including touch gestures. Now you can swipe to scroll through the gallery, pinch to zoom and swipe up to close the current image.
Theme Updates
Each theme has been updated to add support for the new Woocommerce Galleries You can access the updated theme in your account area.
Warning
If you have custom code in the style sheet or a custom “theme mixer” theme you DO NOT want to just update your theme. Doing so would overwrite your custom code.
